Plenary Session
ISCC Certification – Sustainable and Non-GMO Feedstocks for the Bioplastic Industry
Resonsible sourcing of bio-based feedstocks becomes increasingly relevant for bioplastic producers and takes the industry on the next level towards more sustainable products.
In this session ISCC presents its well-established sustainability certification standard that covers the whole supply chain from the field to the final product. Beside the sustainable production of crops ISCC also covers requirements for non-GMO crop production and processing for the bioplastic industry. Learn about innovative remote sensing tools that help to ensure that crops are not cultivated on land that was previously forested, highly biodiverse or contained high carbon stock.
ISCC is a globally leading certification scheme with over 3,000 certified companies in more than 100 countries. With ISCC, sustainability and traceability along supply chains can be proven – from agricultural production, trade and processing to the consumer markets. ISCC covers agricultural, forestry and alternative feedstocks and products for various markets, including chemical/ technical applications, food and bioenergy. Voluntary certification add-ons, such as “Non-GMO” or “Greenhouse Gas Emissions” provide an even more specific certification scope if required.
NatureWorks has been ISCC certified since 2012, and was in fact the first company ever to become ISCC PLUS certified.
