The Future for Bioplastics Feedstocks

Confused by the apparent “hype” around the trends in bioplastics and wondering what is fact or fiction? Concerned about bioplastics competing with food crops?

This unique one-day seminar, organized by Jim Lunt & Associates LLC, will highlight the significant progress made in transitioning from food-based crops to waste biomass and other non-food-based alternatives for bioplastics. Fifteen speakers and panelists, comprising world renowned opinion leaders, key brand owners, technology developers and bioplastics producers will debate and provide their perspectives and informed insights in answering the question:

"When will you be able to use waste biomass products instead of food-use materials to make bioplastics?"

Speakers will emphasize and openly challenge the concerns around the use of food-based crops for non food uses, the present status of technologies to use biomass as a source for sugars or intermediate chemicals (polymer “building blocks”) and also for bioplastics.

This action packed seminar comprises 3 interlinked sessions:

  • Session 1: How justified is the concern over food-based renewable feedstocks for bioplastics?
  • Session 2: When can such a transition to waste biomass feedstocks and derived products realistically occur; which feedstocks are already being considered; and what are the challenges?
  • Session 3: Who are the emerging leaders in converting either waste product from the food chain or other non-edible products to bioplastics?
Industry experts will cover the various facets of this critical question during the workshop.

Who should attend?

This workshop targets decision makers of all disciplines who wish to enhance their knowledge and participation in this evolving drive to reduce dependence on oil-based materials.
